Roberto Ferrari is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Ferrara and the Scientific Director of Medical Trial Analysis. He graduated from the Bologna School of Medicine in 1974, specialized in cardiology at the University of Parma, completed a specialization in radiology at the University of Bologna, and obtained his PhD in cardiac metabolism from the University of London. His clinical and translational research centers on characterizing the molecular mechanisms of the ischemic and failing myocardium, as well as managing heart failure and myocardial ischemia. He has achieved a high publication impact with an H-index of 95 and a total impact factor exceeding 1500, serving as the Chairman or Executive Committee member of major clinical trials including EUROPA, SHIFT, BEAUTIFUL, and SENIORS.
Professor Ferrari has left a significant imprint on major cardiological institutions, most notably serving as the President of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) from 2006 to 2012. He was also the Chairman of the EurObservational Research Programme, President of the World Section of the International Society for Heart Research (ISHR), and a board member of the World Heart Federation. He founded the European Heart for Children (EHC) charity in 2010. For his scientific work, he has received high honors, including the ESC Gold Medal, the Gold Medal of the ISHR World Section, and the Swiss Society Andrea Grüntzig Medal. His editorial background includes editing the European Heart Journal Supplement and serving on the editorial boards of numerous international journals.
