Elisabetta Cerbai, PhD, is Full Professor of Pharmacology at the Department of Neurosciences, Psychology, Drug Research and Child Health (NEUROFARBA) of the University of Florence, Italy. Her research focuses on cardiovascular pharmacotherapy and on the application of biophysics and biophotonics to cardiac organoids.
Her academic and institutional contributions are extensive, including:
- Institutional leadership: She is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) and of the University of Florence, and she served as Vice-Rector for Scientific Research of the University of Florence and as Director of the European Laboratory for Non-Linear Spectroscopy (LENS).
- Health policy: She was a member of the National Health Council (Consiglio Superiore di Sanità) of the Italian Ministry of Health.
- Scientific societies: A Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, she has chaired the ESC Working Group on Cardiac Cellular Electrophysiology and is a nucleus member of the ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy.
Professor Cerbai also serves on several national and international advisory and evaluation committees, including the CNR Committee for Research Ethics and Integrity.
