From 1976 to 2026: Fifty Years of Dialogue Between Science, Medicine, and Society

This year, Fondazione Menarini celebrates its 50th anniversary. Half a century dedicated to transforming ideas and questions into shared pathways of knowledge, while fostering ongoing dialogue among disciplines, experiences, and generations.

Established in the spring of 1976 to support the dissemination of knowledge in medicine, biology, and pharmacology, the foundation has, from the outset, worked to build meaningful connections between people and fields of expertise. It has promoted an interdisciplinary approach capable of bringing scientific research, clinical practice, and cultural reflection into conversation, gradually broadening its scope to include economics and the humanities. Throughout this journey, one objective has remained constant: to make knowledge accessible, enhancing its impact and contributing to more informed decision-making.

50 years of Fondazione Menarini

Scientific conferences have been the primary instrument for advancing this mission. Since 1976, the Foundation has organized more than 750 events, including international congresses and advanced training masterclasses, generating significant scientific and practical outcomes. These gatherings have provided authoritative forums for exchange within the medical and scientific community and have produced more than 12,000 digital resources - including videos, presentations, and in-depth materials. In doing so, they have expanded opportunities for continuous learning beyond the physical boundaries of individual events, helping to make professional education more accessible and inclusive.

This commitment is also reflected in initiatives such as the Scientific Library, a free and continuously updated online resource covering a wide range of therapeutic areas; Dialogs Beyond Borders, a series of conversations with Nobel Laureates and leading international experts that explores not only their achievements but also the paths, insights, and challenges behind them; the editorial work of the journal Minuti, published in its dual editions Science and Art; and the activities of the think tank ON RADAR, dedicated to analysis and dialogue on the major issues shaping contemporary society. Together, these projects express a vision of knowledge as a shared and collective responsibility.

At the heart of this vision lie curiosity, intellectual rigor, and collaboration, grounded in the conviction that every scientific milestone represents not a final destination, but the starting point for new questions and new opportunities for progress.

Guided by the same spirit, we look ahead to the next fifty years as a renewed space for dialogue, research, and shared innovation.
