Konstantinos Toutouzas is a Greek cardiologist born in Athens who graduated from Athens Medical School in 1994. Following his general medical training and early clinical rotations, he completed a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Centro Cuore Columbus in Milan, Italy, in 2002, followed by a second fellowship at Hippokration Hospital in Athens. He spent over a decade working as an Interventional Cardiologist at Hippokration Hospital before transitioning into academia at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he climbed the ranks to become an Associate Professor in 2014 and a full Professor of Cardiology in December 2018. Professor Toutouzas occupies several critical clinical leadership positions, including Director of the Cardio-Oncology Unit and the Structural Heart Disease Unit within the First Department of Cardiology at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. He also serves as the Chairman of the University's "Interventional Cardiology" Postgraduate Master's program. Highly involved in professional societies, he is the current President of the Hellenic Society of Cardiology (2025–2027) and the Chairperson-elect of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Council for Cardiology Practice (2024–2026). His research portfolio comprises extensive publications in interventional techniques, vulnerable plaque imaging, and cardio-oncology, and he serves as the Principal Investigator for multiple clinical trials such as DIRECT, Landmark (in Greece), and beta-TAVI.
