Andreas Pittaras is an established cardiologist and clinical hypertension specialist born in Athens, Greece. He graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1984 and completed his clinical training in cardiology at Alexandra University Hospital in 1992. He then moved to the United States for a clinical research fellowship at the Veterans Hospital in Washington, DC, under a Georgetown University educational program from 1993 to 1997. He maintains a strong connection to international education, serving as an Assistant Professor at George Washington University in Washington, DC, since 2012, and as an Adjunct Professor at the European University of Cyprus. He is also a Cardiovascular Research Associate at the VA Medical Center in Washington, DC. In Greece, Dr. Pittaras is the Director of the MEDITON Medical Center in Athens. He has demonstrated extensive leadership within national medical groups, currently serving as the President of the Hellenic Society of Cardiovascular Prevention (organizing 13 annual panhellenic and international conferences) and previously acting as the President of the Working Group of Hypertension and Heart of the Hellenic Society of Cardiology. He is also a member and Vice President of the pharmacovigilance committee of the Hellenic FDA (EOF). His research spans cardiorespiratory fitness, hypertension, heart failure, and preventive cardiology, with over 50 publications in high-impact international journals and more than 500 total lectures delivered across Greek and international meetings.
