Professor Paul Michael Pronyk is a globally recognized public health expert and current Director of the Duke-NUS Centre for Outbreak Preparedness. He holds a concurrent appointment as Professor of Global Health at Duke-NUS and Duke University. Dr. Pronyk earned his MD from the University of Manitoba and a PhD and MSc from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). He is a specialist in infectious diseases and internal medicine.
Professor Pronyk has held significant leadership roles within the United Nations, including serving as the Chief of Child Survival and Development for UNICEF Indonesia and as the Ebola Response technical coordinator in Sierra Leone. His research focus includes pathogen genomics in resource-limited settings, vaccination demand, and infectious disease surveillance. He has published extensively in The Lancet, Nature Microbiology, and Cell Genomics, contributing to global strategies for pandemic preparedness and child survival.
